ABOUT THE ARTIST
How long have you been with the quintet?: Since the 2018/2019 season.
What’s your favorite animal?: I love frogs. When I was a kid I used to catch them all the time in a pond close to my house.
What’s your favorite part of playing chamber music?: I love working on the nitty-gritty details of a piece of music and enjoy doing that in a collaborative environment.
What has been your favorite performance so far with the quintet?: I don’t know if this counts (since its more than one performance), but I really enjoy getting to go out and perform in libraries, retirement homes, and in schools. I love how engaged the audience is and these spaces tend to break down the barrier a performance stage tends to put up. The overall atmosphere in these performances tends to not only be less stressful, but much more rewarding.
What advice do you have for a young player interested in chamber music?: Find people you love making music with and make a group with them! Is it an unusual combination of instruments? See what pieces are out there, and even see if someone would want to write a piece. That’s the beauty of chamber music: it’s all about collaborating with amazing people. So in short, just go for it!
